‘As long as we remain human, that will always be there…we will find ways to tell our story.’

Women Of The Lens Film Festival Director, Jennifer G. Robinson has a deep conversation with Earls Court International Film Festival’s Deborah Cleary. Together, they discuss the film industry and get into some of the abstracts of storytelling within filmmaking.

Jennifer’s explanation of why storytelling survives every technological threat reveals both poet and pragmatist: ‘Part of what makes us human is the primeval desire to sit around the “campfire” and just tell each other stories. And that’s how I view the cinema experience. You go into this kind of darkened space, like a cave, and there’s the flickering of the lights that you are mesmerised by – you can see images of the story like flames in a fire. And as long as we remain human, that will always be there.’
