We’re really excited to be in partnership with Hyde Park Picture House to deliver a celebration of the women of the Blaxploitation film genre!

Think Pam Grier, Tamara Dobson, Pearl Bailey, Brenda Sykes and even another icon, Nichelle Nichols made an entry to the genre.

As part of the celebration and in recognition of October’s breast cancer awareness month, we’re proud to be supportive of the efforts of Leeds charity, Beyond Cancer.

Starting in 2010, Beyond Cancer’s objectives are about the promotion of good health through the provision of support to people from ethnic minority groups who have a cancer diagnosis. It particularly supports breast cancer diagnosis for people living in the Leeds Metropolitan area.

The charity has supported many people in their healing journeys by providing financial support, such as transport costs, bras and wig support and other surgical equipment needs.

In addition to this, Beyond Cancer had developed a Special Wishes Programme where the general public can nominate someone who is struggling with their diagnosis, to have a special gift to raise their confidence and give them a special treat.
